Behavior Management Policy
Preschool is a happy place! On most days and at most times, most children make thoughtful decisions about their behavior. Occasionally a child will have to be reminded of what is expected in the classroom. This is completely normal and a healthy part of child development. However, behavior that is disruptive to the learning environment must be addressed in order to maintain a classroom where all children feel safe, comfortable, and able to achieve their highest potential in all areas of development.
Our classroom rules are short and simple so that every child is aware of our student expectations. They are as follows:
1. Be Kind: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Be
respectful of all.
2. Be Safe: Avoid causing harm to yourself and others. Be
careful.
3. Be Neat: Take care of our classroom and materials. Do your
best work.
We have chosen to use a sticker system to manage the students’ behavior. Based on their behavior throughout the day, students on the calendar in their Take Home Folder. There are many different reasons that children act inappropriately (fatigue, illness, etc.) and a few lost stickers are not a reason to contact us. However, daily or near daily sticker losses are a cause for concern and a conference with the teacher, parents, student, or principal may be needed to help the child.
